Wind-Up-Retro-Flipping-AnimCollecting wind-up toys is a fun hobby, but adding these retro flipping animals makes the collection funny and charming. Flipping animals are a joy of the past that has seen a new generation love them, too.

Retro Wind-up Flipping Animals

When I began collecting wind-up toys, I found plenty to get started with. At the time, I didn’t even think about the flipping animals that had been such a part of my childhood. Now, I have discovered them again and have been adding in the charming little animals as fast as I can. Here are just a few of the best.

Wind-Up Instead of Battery Operated

As a kid, we never had anything that was battery operated. Hm, I can’t even remember if batteries were even invented way back then! But, I digress. Instead of batteries, we had wind-up toys. All kinds of them to be sure. From dolls to planes to wind-up robots. Many were hand-me-downs from older cousins as they outgrew the toys.

It didn’t matter where they came from, each was a fun toy from my own childhood. Since I was, and still am, an animal lover, the flipping animals were a particular delight to me.

Displaying a Growing Collection of Retro Toys

My collection is growing, there is no doubt about that. But, as it grows, I keep looking for more fun ways to display them. With my wind-up toys, I like them to be easily reachable. A big part of showing them off is to wind them up and let them do their thing.

With my more delicate and expensive retro toys, I look for ways to display them while protecting them. Some of my collection are originals that I purchased from online auctions like eBay. For those, I use glass enclosed display cases.

Enjoying a Retro Wind Up Toy Collection

Whether it’s flipping animals or original retro toys, you want to be able to enjoy your collection. Viewing them is one way to enjoy them, but winding up all your retro toys is another fun way to enjoy them. So feel comfortable that you don’t need originals at times. Get a reproduction that can stand up to plenty of activity.

Wind up toys are always so much fun! They are so entertaining and always make me smile. I am surrounded by “big kids” who enjoy launching a wind-up flipping animal when I am working in the kitchen. I have no idea how many times one has landed in food or dish-washing liquid. (or run right off the counter)

    I love that mouse!
